The resort area of Istro (Istron) is a municipality approximately 10 km from the cosmopolitan town of Agios Nikolaos. It is located on the national highway and close to the traditional villages of Kalo Horio and Pirgos. Istron itself is well served with many local taverns and restaurants, bars, cafeterias, shops and a bank. In particular there are several beautiful beaches in the area. Heraklion International Airport can be reached within an hour's drive.
