Kavousi is a charming seaside village on the main road from Sitia to Agios Nikolaos and is well served by local buses. This traditional village has several tavernas, kafenia and small shops as well as regular visits from travelling traders. Pretty village at the foot of the almost vertical north-west flank of the Thripti Mountains. Oleander and mulberry trees on the main road, the village very winding with steps, cobbled paths, church and chapels. Nearby attractions include the Chavgas Gorge and an olive tree about 3.250 years old at Archaia Elia Azoria. There is a lovely little beach at Tholos.
