Kato Poros is a small inland village, about 25 kilometers from Rethymno. It is at an altitude of 260 m on the northeastern slope of Mount Azonas (560 m), which has many caves. The area has numerous water springs. In the village of Argiroupoli, 3 km away, there are shopping facilities, taverns, shops and attractions.
Close to the village are the Kollita Gorges (Twin Gorges). They are so named because they consist of two parallel gorges. Both are part of the European long-distance hiking trail E4 and are suitable for casual hikers.
