Skaleta is a village in the eastern part of Rethymno Bay. It has a beautiful beach that, like all beaches on the north coast, is windy. There are taverns, kafenions, mini markets, car rental companies and some other shops here. The surrounding area has developed in recent years, it is full of large hotels and tourist facilities. Skaleta is located on the new national road that leads from Rethymno (15 km) to Heraklion. The bus runs regularly from here in both directions. Heraklion Airport is 70 kilometers away (one hour by bus), Chania Airport is 80 kilometers away.
