  • Makry Gialos is located 30 km east of Ierapetra and 33 km south of Sitia on the southern road axis Sitia-Ierapetra.
    It was a small fishing village, but now it has become a well-known holiday resort due to its warm hospitality. The village retains its traditional character and is ideal for those looking for peace and relaxation on holiday.
    The name Makry Gialos comes from the large sandy beach that exists there. The crystal clear and shallow water is ideal for children but also for adults.
    There are many tavernas to suit all tastes along the beach, while the harbor remains the most picturesque part of the village. From this port there is a boat that takes visitors to beautiful Koufonissi every morning and returns in the afternoon. Makry Gialos has many shops, taverns and water sports.
