The village lies on the main road from Pigi to Arkadi and extends another 1,5 km eastward. Loutra is mentioned in 16th-century Venetian sources under the same name (Lutra). The village owes its name to the baths (Loutrà in Greek) of the inhabitants of the nearby village of Aliakes, which has since disappeared. Elsewhere in the sources, it is called Spiegel or Lucia. Nestled amidst olive groves, Loutra is characterized by its narrow cobbled streets, boogainvillea, Venetian buildings, and the blazons of the Kallergi family.
