Skaleta is a village in the eastern part of the bay of Rethymno. It has a beautiful beach, which is windy like all beaches on the north coast. Here you can find taverns, kafenions, mini markets, car rentals and some other shops. The area has developed in recent years, it is full of large hotels and tourist facilities. Skaleta is located on the new national road that leads from Rethymno (15 km) to Heraklion. The bus runs regularly from here in both directions. Heraklion is 70 kilometers away (one hour by bus), Chania airport 80 kilometers away.
