Katharades is a stretch of coast approximately 5 km east of the town center of Ierapetra on the Greek island of Crete. It begins just after the Peristeras district and stretches along the main road connecting Ierapetra with Sitia and Makry Gialos. The area is known for a series of small, quiet beaches with coarse, gray sand and smooth rocks in the water. Tamarisk trees provide natural shade, and facilities such as umbrellas, sunbeds, showers, beach volleyball courts, and water sports are available. Katharades is home to several well-known resorts.
