Kamilari is located in the south of Crete, very close to Timpaki, Moires and the coastal villages of Kalamaki and Matala.
Located 4 km from the archaeological site in Phaistos, Kamilari is an ideal location for those wishing to explore the beautiful plain of Messara with its traditional villages, history and of course the beautiful bay and beaches of southern Crete. Kamilari is built on three hills and has approximately 340 permanent residents. It is a quiet, traditional village with panoramic views of the olive groves of the Messara Plain, the peaks of Psiloritis and the Libyan Sea. It is not possible to swim in the sea in Kamilari, but it is not far from the beaches of Matala, Kommos and Kalamaki. This small disadvantage is offset by the strong traditional character with its beautiful houses, picturesque streets and unique views. The village is very picturesque and beautiful, with all the features of a typical Cretan village, with its small central square, church and traditional cafes with color and personality, frequented by locals and visitors.
