The traditional village of Analipsi is located 20 kilometers east of Heraklion, 5 km from the popular port of Hersonissos, and approximately 3 km east of Gouves. It is a beautiful tourist area with a unique beauty.
The history of the village of Analipsi dates back to the time of Ottoman rule on Crete. At that time, Ottoman Agades (local chieftains) lived here and owned small stone houses, where they resided for a few months of the year. The name of the small village was "Svouros," and according to ancient tradition, it came from a Turkish "Aga" who lived in the area around 1800. In 1896, a small church called Analipsi was built. Around 1970, the church name replaced the old village name, and the village has been called "Analipsi" ever since. Between 1985 and 1989, several small hotels (Lyttos, Stella, Europa), taverns, and shops were built. Analipsi quickly became a magnet for many visitors seeking the peace and quiet of a traditional village. One of the village's main sources of income is tourism. In Analipsi, you can spend a relaxing and enjoyable holiday and discover the beauty of the surrounding area.
